The activity started at 1 pm with Accenture and McDonald’s Cavite City as the major sponsors. Student volunteers from The Palmridge School of Imus assisted the kids in games and singspiration. Two intermission numbers added joy and lightened up the party together with the mascots from the said food chain. Before the program ended, the sponsor company distributed gifts and give-aways to complete the treat. With a big smile on their faces, the children went home with another one good taste of an ideal Christmas treat.

Here’s a first hand account from one of our sponsors, Joezel Rizi T. Nubla of Accenture.

There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is.

Dynamic Teen Company (DTC), in cooperation with Collegians United Toward Excellence: Converging Abilities, Maximizing Potentials (CUTE CAMP), accentuated the significance and usefulness of music in promoting positive change through their joint project: J4Y presents LAKBayan (Likhang Awit Kabataan para sa Bayan) 2008, last September 28 on Club 8586 center.

The major endeavor of the said project is to encourage and promote positive change by the use of the youth’s musicality and originality, and at the same time showcasing the talents and abilities of the young generation in writing musical compositions. Another goal of the LAKBayan is to hone the harmonious prowess and skills of young people in playing musical instruments and in performing on stage. It also persuaded the attendees to contribute to the global combat against different problems and to go against the wrong flow.

The program started at 4:00 pm. There were full of energetic special numbers captivating motivational words, singspirations, and audio-visual presentations. But those were just the prelude.

Originally-created musical compositions highlighted the momentous event. Using their singing expertise with their showmanship, the performers certainly put on a good show. The said compositions as well as those who compose them are as follows: “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo” by Reynaldo Castro Jr., “Lakbay” by Francis Allen Ber Tolentino, “Sigaw Pinoy” by Adela Dela Cruz, “Tinig” by the MAD Band, and “Youth with a Mission” by Carleen Santiago.

Certificates were given to the participants as tokens of appreciation and as means of showing gratitude to them.

When all’s said and done, one thing is for sure. It is the fact that music highly influences the perspective and point of view of most people today, and that it is a good medium to merge and coalesce the human race. Music soothes people’s souls and hearts. Perhaps, it is an efficient way to communicate with them. When aptly combined with the youth’s proficiency and abilities, without a doubt, it will be a good agent of exemplifying positive change.

LAKBayan 2008 didn’t only demonstrate the capabilities of the juveniles in different aspects of life. In the same manner, it expounded the virtue of authenticity, team work, and unity. Music, indeed, is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life.

If projects and programs like this would continue to assist the people to be aware of their environment and to be concerned with others, undoubtedly, our world will be a better place to live in.
