Hello!
When I heard about your organization, I was not only emotionally touched but inspired as well. I am the president of a newly formed non-profit organization based in Hawaii, U.S.A. called, "Mapala International." I convinced some of my friends to put up our org. so that somehow we can also help people that may be in need here in our community and back there in the Philippines. I was originally inspired by another organization called, "Books for the Barrios" which was set up by an American couple which helps educate the underpriviledged children.
We are still struggling as a new organization but one of these days we know that we can do more. Early this year we were able to send 4 balikbayan boxes to a home for the aged and home for the girls in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. We also sent a box to an outreach program in Manila that houses street children. We gathered the treats inside the boxes and LBC sponsored the delivery of the boxes for us. We hope that we can do the same for you.
Please let us know what types of donations the children can benefit more. We can't pledge money at this time but people are generous when it comes to goods especially if they know that it will directly benefit the children. Let's just say that I am not ashamed to ask (even beg if I have to) for people to donate for a good cause.
Just today, I was telling my husband that I would like to celebrate my b-day in September wherein I will ask my guests to bring donations instead of a gift for me. I think this will be possible.
